[Eonline] Glee Season 5 Scoop: Jane Lynch Teases More Characters Moving to New York! Plus, Will Mike O’Malley Return?

Is Glee losing one of TV’s most beloved fathers?!

Mike O’Malley, who plays Kurt’s (Chris Colfer) fan favorite father Burt on the Fox hit, is set to play another father on NBC’s new sitcom Welcome to the Family. We’re not scientists, but we’re pretty sure he can’t be in two places at once. And we all know Burt had his fair share of health problems in season four, so will Glee be killing him off?

We chatted with O’Malley on the red carpet at NBC’s upfront presentation in New York City, where he sounded off on his future on Glee. Plus, we caught up with Jane Lynch, the host of NBC’s new game show Hollywood Game Night, who teased more characters moving to New York City in season five!

Gird your loins, people, ‘cause O’Malley is breaking major season five scoop: “Kurt is moving back to Lima next season. I’m breaking that news right now!”

OK, so he totally made that up (and almost caused our hearts to stop!), but O’Malley was definitely very serious when he told us that his new gig as the lead of NBC’s Welcome to the Family, along with Desperate Housewives star Ricardo Chavira (which you can watch a preview for here), will not prevent him from returning to Glee.

“I’ve already spoken to Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk and Burt is a very, very big part of my life, playing that character I love doing it…I think we shoot some in July, so I’m definitely coming back next season!” Phew!

Also returning next season? Lynch, whose character Sue Sylvester had quite the dramatic season four: She had a baby, got fired and became an aerobics instructor.

“I know nothing about [season five], but I am going to be in it. I know that,” Lynch told us, though she did add that she’s heard whispers of some of the cast heading for New York next season. “I love what they are doing with the New York story and I think some of the kids are probably going to be joining Rachel, Kurt and Santana in New York.”

So would she like to see Sue in the Big Apple? “I would, sure! Whatever works! Whatever he wants me to do, I’ll do,” Lynch said.

To hear more from Lynch, including that time she got Amy Poehler and Jason Sudeikis drinking for Hollywood Game Night, watch our interview above!

'Glee's' Patty Duke, Meredith Baxter on Mentoring Blaine and Kurt

fyeahgleeclub:

“These women don’t want to impose themselves on Blaine and Kurt, they just want to give them a hint of what has been and how far we’ve come — and how far we still have to go,” Duke tells THR.

Fox’s Glee wraps up its fourth season Thursday with an hour that puts the spotlight on the couples who helped pave the way for Kurt (Chris Colfer) and Blaine (Darren Criss) when Patty Duke and Meredith Baxter guest star as a lesbian couple who mentor the young fan favorites.

Abby: Are Kurt and Blaine really going through with the engagement on Glee or does the lesbian couple talk them out of it?
Funny enough, we just spoke with one-half of that lesbian couple: Meredith Baxter. She insists that while she and her partner (played by Patty Duke) definitely have a meaningful dinner with Kurt and Blaine, they in no way give advice on whether he should propose or not. Looks like this decision will be all up to Blaine.

Meredith Baxter on her ‘Glee’ guest spot: Colfer and Criss ‘were absolutely darling’

waltzy:

In Glee‘s fourth season finale, “All or Nothing,” the New Directions kids head to Regionals while Kurt and Blaine head to dinner with…Meredith Baxter and Patty Duke? As previously reported, Baxter, most famous for her role in the ’80s sitcom Family Ties, and Duke play a lesbian couple who crosses paths with the teenage twosome. “Jan, Patty Duke, meets Blaine in a jewelry store and says, ‘Why don’t you come have dinner with us?’” Baxter explains, which gives a chance for the younger couple to get a peek at what commitment looks likes years down the road. “We just talk. We represent a couple that’s been together for many decades.”

We spoke with Baxter about her character’s short but pivotal scene, possibilities for season five, and what all that talk of a possible proposal means, really. One thing we now for sure: She doesn’t sing — but would like to!

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: How’d you get the role?
MEREDITH BAXTER:
They came to me, which is always the best way — that I was their choice. It was just presented to me and I was told that Patty Duke would be my partner and it was for Glee and they didn’t really need to say anymore. I was in.

'Glee's' Darren Criss Previews Blaine's Planned Proposal

fyeahgleeclub:

Wedding bells certainly seem as if they could be ringing in Glee’s fourth season finale as Blaine is definitely caught up in the wave of excitement washing over the country as same-sex marriage continues to inch closer to being legal in all 50 states.

During the Fox musical’s penultimate hour of the season, Blaine (Darren Criss) went so far as to ask Burt (Mike O’Malley) permission to marry his son, Kurt (Chris Colfer). What he didn’t count on, however, was for Burt to continue being the voice of reason and warn the teenager that there’s no reason he should rush the relationship, as they’re too young for marriage.

Despite the common sense talk, the promos for the fourth season finale, fittingly titled “All Or Nothing” as the proposal and Regionals are both prominent story lines, Blaine seems to be marching ahead with his plan — asking BFF Sam (Chord Overstreet) to be his best man and ring shopping where he meets the likes of Patty Duke.

The Hollywood Reporter caught up with Criss to preview Blaine’s big move and how the season will end for one of Glee’s most beloved (on and off again) couples.
